Here are some ways you can enjoy books with your child:
Reading Aloud
- Make time every day to read - even for a short time. Try to slowly increase the amount of time you read as your child grows older and enjoys the routine.
- If you have other children, make reading time a special time for all of you to read together. As your child gets older, let her choose the book you read.
- Others can help read to your child: brothers, sisters, relatives, and daycare providers.
Exploring the Book
- Point to the pictures on the front cover of the book and ask your child what he thinks the book is about.
- Make a special place in your home for your child's raising readers books. When your child is old enough, teach them to properly care for their books.
Reading Tips
- Make reading time special- turn off the TV and radio.
