Early literacy is all about what children know about reading before they actually read, write or attend school. This includes everything from a baby teething on a board book, to a clever four-year-old who memorized the text in a simple book. Exposing children to a variety of books and pictures helps stimulate their tiny brains. Introducing a child to a variety of picture books from birth helps nurture the development of the important connections (synapses) in the brain that are needed for the baby's brain to grow.
