Why raising readers Has Selected This Book
The simpler the image on a page, the easier your baby can focus on the page. We selected this book because of its excellent use of high-contrast pictures for the youngest of eyes.
    Activities
When you open this book above your baby, watch as his eyes scan the page and focus on the shapes. His eyes are being stimulated as he pauses briefly on the animal shapes in the book. There are no words on the pages of this book, but as you turn the pages you can say the names of the animals and even make animal noises. When you do this, your baby builds a connection between the sounds you are making and the shape on the page. Is your baby actually learning when you do this? Yes. Every time you talk with your baby, he is learning. When you hold up a book and talk about the images, his brain is making even more connections and learning more.
